Julia is an experienced attorney with special focus on environmental and natural resources law, and land use and zoning law. Julia has handled all aspects of litigation in both state and federal court in multiple jurisdictions.

Julia graduated from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law in 2007, with a certificate in environmental law. She was an editor for Ecology Law Quarterly and a member of moot Court. During law school, Julia interned for the Honorable Susan Illston of the Northern District of California.

Prior to law school, Julia graduated from The Johns Hopkins University with a Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, and worked as a researcher at the University of California, Berkeley, Department of Chemistry.

After law school, Julia was accepted in the U.S. Department of Justice’s Honors Program as a trial attorney in the Environment and Natural Resources Division. At DOJ, Julia was lead counsel on several high-profile and complex environmental law cases, involved in high-profile tribal trust settlements, and litigated rails-to-trails cases. Julia’s scientific background allows her to work easily with experts integrating scientific information and legal principles to bring a unique perspective to her cases and build the strongest case possible. She received several Department awards, including the John Marshall Award, DOJ’s highest award for attorneys, for her work reviewing the U.S. Department of Navy’s environmental documents and counseling for compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act and other environmental laws.

Julia then moved to a small mountain town in Idaho where she began providing non-profit organizations and community groups pre-litigation counseling, and litigating environmental and land use cases in state and federal court.

Julia affiliated with Montage Legal Group’s freelance attorney platform in 2021. She is admitted to practice law in Idaho and is inactive in California.
